About Our Summer Program
Style of Instruction
Our summer therapy programs draw from a variety of researched programs that have proven to yield significant results in literacy and language development. Our lessons are structured and systematic with a multi-sensory approach to learning. The material is appropriately paced, providing sufficient opportunity to review, retain, and master concepts. Our specialized instruction also considers the importance of maximizing sensory processing with various facilitative techniques and programs that further maximize the learning potential and make the learning process fun.
Small Group Instruction
The small group environment makes the learning process interactive, fun, and personal while affording children the invaluable opportunity to learn from one another and put into practice the theory of “teaching to learn” or “teaching to own”. Group instruction also provides families with a less costly treatment option while allowing beneficial opportunity for social and emotional growth that is not always available with one-on-one instruction. Please be aware that students are carefully grouped according to matched objectives and skill level. Sensitivity to age/grade level and temperament is also carefully considered. For this reason, the option of small group instruction may not be available for every child.
Individual Instruction
Individual instruction is available year-round including during the summer months and is ideal for the child who learns best in a structured, personal, one-on-one setting. The frequency, pace, and style of therapy is specifically tailored to meet the unique needs of your child. Individual instruction may also be more ideal for the family whose attendance may be impacted by frequent summer vacation.
Therapists and Tuition
Lemon Tree’s professional staff is comprised of speech-language therapists holding Master’s degrees, licensed by the Board of Medical Quality Assurance, and certified by the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association. Tuition for individual instruction is $35.00 (per half-hour) and $70.00 (per hour). Tuition for group instruction is $25 (per half hour) and $50.00 (per hour) and decreases accordingly based on the number of students per group. Classes have a cap on size to insure success.
Treatment and Frequency
The Summer Program extends from June 09 - August 15 offering up to 10 weeks of instruction. Treatment frequency is dependent upon several factors including student’s level of need, learning objectives, learning stamina, motivation, level of attention, family schedule and budget. Given these factors, families traditionally opt to receive any where from 30 minute to 2 hour therapy sessions on a once to twice weekly basis. Families interested in receiving a more intense and concentrated form of instruction can receive anywhere from 30 minute to two hour therapy sessions 3-4 times per week if child motivation permits. The risk of over-treating or burn-out MUST be carefully considered. |
